A couple (maybe more than a couple, actually) of people on my friends list actually know the guy in question, who is the deranged mind behind Survival Research Laboratories, an "art" organization dedicated to building impossibly huge, forbidding robots for "exhibitions" in which they beat, burn, and batter each other into submission.
